After a long day, coming home and cooking dinner can seem like a huge chore. Even if you’re tired, though, there are some delicious and healthy meals that won’t take you much effort to prepare. Here are four simple dinners you can make when you’re feeling burned out.
Simple yet tasty, stuffed bell peppers are one of the easiest dinners you can make. Just cut the tops off of some peppers, make a stuffing from browned hamburger, canned black beans, canned corn and shredded cheese and place the peppers in the oven or a slow cooker. Before long, you’ll have a delicious meal for your family. For extra flavor, serve them with a bit of sour cream and salsa.
Although they may seem fancy, gourmet hot sandwiches can be put together in only a few minutes. Place ham, turkey, salami and your favorite cheese between two slices of multi-grain sourdough bread. Apply butter to both exterior sides of the sandwich and cook it on a cast-iron skillet or griddle. The sandwiches will be ready as soon as the cheese is melted and the bread has reached a golden brown color. This meal can be made in under 5 minutes, but will seem like a treat at the end of a long day.
A staple of backyard barbecues and one of America’s classic comfort foods, pulled pork is as simple as it is delicious. Set a pork roast in your slow cooker early in the day and allow it to cook until close to dinner time. Drain off the fat and place the roast into a bowl so that you can pull it apart into small pieces. Add some salt, pepper and your favorite barbecue sauce, and you’ve got a quick and easy pulled pork dinner. To make it even better, get some good kaiser rolls and treat yourself to pulled pork sandwiches.
While you may be more used to cooking steaks on the grill, it’s actually much easier to cook them on your stove top in a pan. Just melt a little butter into an extremely hot pan and set your steak in. The cooking time will depend on the cut and thickness of the steak. Serve it up with a baked potato, and you’ve got the perfect simple meal.
Needless to say, there are hundreds of simple recipe options out there that you can use after a long day at work. If you’re feeling burned out, these four recipes and others like them will help you eat a healthy, relaxing dinner so that you can recharge for the next day.
